Product introduction
The HENDL Vertical-Eye Coil Lifter is a mechanical below-the-hook attachment designed for crane handling of sheet-steel coils stored with their eye axis vertical. The product family has a lifting-capacity upper limit of 7.5 metric tonnes. The lifter enters the coil eye and supports the load from beneath with two opposed, broad support feet. Coil outside diameter, axial width and final attachment geometry are determined for the application.
Standard Capacity And Dimensions
Maximum product-family capacity: 7.5 t (metric tonnes). Compatible coil inside diameter: 16–24 in (406.4–609.6 mm). Coil outside diameter, width, minimum foot clearance, lifter mass and the WLL of each individual configuration are confirmed for the customer project. No WLL is attributed to the exact unit shown in the images.
Working Principle
Suspended from the crane hook through an upper lifting bail, the attachment is lowered into the coil eye. Its articulated arms mechanically self-adjust to coil inside diameters of 16–24 in (406.4–609.6 mm). Two opposed feet are positioned beneath the coil. The mechanical open/close latch is operated with the attachment resting on a suitable support surface. An independent mechanical lock is designed to prevent the arms opening under load; the approved operating instructions govern the handling sequence.
Selection
Selection considers the coil inside and outside diameters, width or axial height, maximum mass, storage arrangement, clearance beneath the load and crane-hook interface. Low-profile feet are intended to reduce the required insertion clearance, not to enable zero-clearance lifting. The family capacity limit does not imply that one model suits every coil size.
Engineered options for the application
Project-specific options include articulated arms for alternative IDs, custom support-foot geometry, contact pads, reduced headroom, special suspension interfaces, protection for sensitive surfaces, custom capacity and width, a separate high-temperature design and corrosion-resistant coatings. Safety provisions may include a mechanical latch, an independent lock against opening under load, mechanical movement stops, foot-alignment guides and a controlled gripping/release sequence. Final combinations and operating limits are approved per project.

Questions
What coil inside diameters can this lifter handle?
The confirmed HENDL product-family range is 16–24 in (406.4–609.6 mm). Other diameters may be addressed with a separately engineered articulated mechanism; suitability is confirmed during quotation.
Does the lifter need clearance beneath the coil?
Yes. Its support feet must enter beneath the coil. Low-profile foot geometry can reduce the required space, but the minimum clearance depends on the load and attachment dimensions and is established for each project.
How are gripping, locking and conformity documents handled?
The linkage self-adjusts mechanically to the coil ID. The latch is operated while the attachment is supported, and an independent lock is designed to prevent opening under load. Conformity assessment and documentation against EN 13155 and applicable machinery legislation can be supplied on a project basis; document status is confirmed with the order.
