Product introduction
The HENDL Motorized Rotating C-Hook is a powered below-the-hook lifting attachment designed to lift, transfer and orient horizontally stored steel and metal coils around a vertical axis using an overhead crane. The lower arm of the C-shaped structure enters the coil eye to support the load from below, while the powered rotation assembly changes the hook orientation to suit the plant layout. The product family covers lifting applications up to 50 metric tonnes and coil widths of 300–2,200 mm. Higher capacities, different dimensions and special operating conditions can be addressed through custom engineering.

Working Principle
The operator aligns the attachment with the coil eye using the crane and inserts the lower arm with suitable clearance. Before lifting, the supporting position, load centre of gravity and crane attachment are checked. Once the coil is supported and lifted, a motor-driven slewing bearing, pinion and gearbox arrangement turns the C-Hook about its vertical axis. Rotation is controlled through the crane pendant or a remote control, depending on the project. Inverter-controlled speed, acceleration and deceleration support smooth positioning. Rotation limits and position control, braking, emergency-stop integration, audible/visual warnings and overload/torque protection are addressed within the application-specific control design.
Selection
Selection considers maximum coil mass, minimum and maximum coil widths, inside and outside diameters, centre of gravity, coil-eye clearance for the lower arm, single- or double-hook crane configuration, available headroom, storage clearances and required rotation angle. The stated 50-tonne lifting capacity and 300–2,200 mm width range describe the product family and do not guarantee every combination in one unit. A 90°, 180° or 360° rotation configuration and suitable speed are established for the project. The 360° option does not imply unlimited continuous rotation; cable management and mechanical rotation limits are defined for the selected design.
Motorized rotation, controls and custom engineering
Rotation configurations of 90°, 180° or 360° can be developed to suit the handling operation. Inverter-controlled rotation speed, crane-pendant or remote operation, and single- or double-hook attachment arrangements are selected by project. Rotation limits and position control, managed acceleration/deceleration, braking, emergency-stop integration, audible/visual warnings and overload/torque protection are control functions available within an appropriate design. Capacities above 50 tonnes, coil widths outside 300–2,200 mm and special handling arrangements are subject to project-specific engineering. These features are not represented as standard equipment on every unit.
Technical Figures For A Quote
For a technical quotation, provide maximum coil weight, minimum and maximum widths, inside and outside diameters, the number of crane hooks and their dimensions, available crane power supply, headroom, storage aisle clearances, the required 90° / 180° / 360° rotation angle, operating duty cycle and control preference. Crane general arrangement drawings, storage-area photographs and a handling sequence are helpful.
Questions
What capacities and coil widths can a Motorized Rotating C-Hook handle?
The HENDL product family offers solutions for lifting capacities up to 50 metric tonnes and coil widths from 300 to 2,200 mm. The appropriate unit is selected for the actual coil diameters, weight, crane attachment and duty conditions. Applications outside the stated ranges can be assessed through custom engineering.
Are 90°, 180° and 360° rotation options available?
Yes. Rotation arrangements of 90°, 180° or 360° can be configured according to the required handling movement. Rotation speed can be controlled by an inverter. The 360° option does not guarantee unrestricted continuous rotation; rotation limits and the power-supply arrangement are determined for each design.
How is rotation operated, and which protection functions are available?
Depending on the project, rotation can be operated from the crane pendant or by remote control, with electrical power supplied by the crane. Available control functions include rotation limits and position monitoring, braking, controlled acceleration/deceleration, emergency-stop integration, audible/visual warnings and overload/torque protection.
