Paper & Plastic Roll Turner, Crane-Suspended 90° Roll Turning with Core Gripping

Product introduction

The HENDL Paper & Plastic Roll Turner is a crane-suspended below-the-hook lifting attachment designed to turn paper, plastic film, textile, foil and packaging rolls through 90° between horizontal-axis and vertical-axis positions. It handles the roll by gripping inside the core. The family covers loads up to 1 metric tonne, with separate manual, electric and pneumatic configurations designed for different operating requirements. Higher capacities and non-standard roll dimensions can be assessed through custom engineering.

Standard Capacity And Dimensions

Lifting capacity
up to 1 metric tonne.
Turning movement
90° between horizontal-axis and vertical-axis roll positions.
Mounting
suspended from a crane hook.
Gripping
inside the roll core.

Manual, electric and pneumatic solutions are separate configurations.

Roll dimensions are project-specific; capacities above 1 tonne are subject to custom engineering.

Working Principle

The attachment is suspended from a crane hook and positioned so its internal core-gripping element can engage the roll. Gripping, lifting and the 90° horizontal-to-vertical turning sequence are performed according to the operating arrangement of the selected manual, electric or pneumatic configuration. Suitable powered versions may incorporate grip position sensors, mechanical turning stops and position feedback for controlled movement. Project-specific arrangements can also address load retention during a power loss. These functions must not be interpreted as standard equipment on every model.

Selection

Specify the maximum roll weight, outside diameter, width, core inside diameter and material, centre of gravity, initial and final orientation, crane hook connection, available headroom and operating duty. Surface sensitivity, the available electrical or compressed-air supply and the required controls also influence model selection. Roll dimensions are engineered for each project, and the 1-tonne family capacity does not imply identical performance across every geometry or configuration.

Configuration-dependent safety features and custom engineering

Depending on the application, interchangeable mandrels for 3-inch, 6-inch or custom core sizes; rubber, polyurethane or polyamide protective contact surfaces; stainless steel construction for hygienic environments; compact low-headroom designs; and parking or transport stands can be provided. Suitable configurations may include grip closure/position sensing, mechanical stops and position feedback for 90° turning, emergency stopping and controlled rotation on powered models, audible/visual status signals and engineered load-retention arrangements for loss-of-power conditions. Not all features are standard on every model.

Technical Figures For A Quote

For a quotation, provide roll weight, outside diameter, width, core inside diameter and material, initial and final roll orientation, crane hook dimensions, available headroom, operating frequency and the electrical or compressed-air supply available. Mention sensitive surfaces, hygienic requirements, 3-inch or 6-inch mandrels and any parking or transport stand requirements.

Questions

What turning angle does the roll turner provide?

The HENDL family provides 90° turning between horizontal-axis and vertical-axis roll positions, in either direction according to the application. Unlimited 360° rotation or spinning the roll around its own axis is not a published function of this product.

Which rolls and core diameters can be handled?

The equipment can be engineered for paper, plastic film, textile, foil and packaging rolls using internal core gripping. Interchangeable 3-inch and 6-inch mandrels and custom core tooling are available as project options. Roll dimensions are established for each application.

What is the difference between manual, electric and pneumatic models?

They are separate configurations selected for the required actuation and controls. On powered designs, emergency stopping, position sensing and controlled turning can be incorporated according to the project. Gripping and load retention are defined by the mechanical and control design of the selected model.
