Paper & Plastic Roll Core Gripper, Internal Core Lifting for Vertical-Axis Rolls

Product introduction

The HENDL Paper & Plastic Roll Core Gripper is designed to lift and handle paper, cardboard and plastic film rolls positioned with a vertical axis by engaging their internal cores. The product family provides handling solutions for loads up to 3 metric tonnes, with configurations suitable for 3-inch and 6-inch core diameters. Crane-mounted and forklift-mounted versions can be engineered for different production and storage operations. Alternative core dimensions and higher capacities are evaluated through custom engineering.

Standard Capacity And Dimensions

Lifting capacity
up to 3 metric tonnes.
Core sizes
configurations for 3-inch and 6-inch internal diameters.
Roll orientation
vertical axis.
Gripping principle
mechanical internal-core engagement with a gripping effect that increases with the supported load.
Locking arrangements
manual or automatic locking, according to design.
Carrier interfaces
crane or forklift configurations.
Core contact
application-specific protective contact surfaces.

Higher loads and other core sizes are subject to custom engineering.

Working Principle

The gripper is aligned with the internal opening of the vertically positioned roll and inserted to the required engagement depth. Depending on the selected design, the gripping arrangement may use manual locking or automatic locking. As the load is lifted, the mechanical gripping effect increases, improving engagement against the inner core surface. The roll is then handled using a project-specific crane attachment or forklift configuration. Contact geometry and protective surfaces are selected for the core characteristics. Load release and unlocking follow the operating procedure defined for the actual model.

Selection

Correct selection considers maximum roll weight, internal core diameter, core material and strength, outer roll diameter, roll height, centre of gravity, storage layout and operating frequency. The 3-inch and 6-inch sizes represent available core configurations, not a claim of continuously adjustable operation between these diameters in one device. Crane and forklift applications may require different attachment interfaces and handling envelopes. The 3-tonne limit describes the product family, not every combination of load, core and carrier.

Locking configurations and custom engineering

Manual-locking or automatic-locking core-gripping arrangements, crane or forklift interfaces and protective core contact surfaces can be selected for the application. Special engineering may address core diameters other than 3 or 6 inches, loads above 3 tonnes and non-standard storage or handling conditions. These alternatives are not represented as simultaneous standard features of a single model.

Technical Figures For A Quote

For a technical quotation, provide the roll material (paper, cardboard or plastic film), maximum roll weight, internal core diameter, core material, outer diameter, roll height, vertical storage arrangement and expected operating frequency. Please also specify whether the carrier is a crane or forklift, the relevant connection dimensions, and whether manual or automatic locking is preferred. Photographs of the core and handling area are helpful.

Questions

What materials can the Paper & Plastic Roll Core Gripper handle?

The HENDL gripper is designed to lift vertically positioned paper, cardboard and plastic film rolls through their internal cores. Product-family solutions are available for loads up to 3 metric tonnes, subject to appropriate core and handling configuration.

Can the gripper be made for core diameters other than 3 and 6 inches?

Yes. Core-gripping geometry can be developed for other internal diameters. The 3-inch and 6-inch sizes refer to available configurations, not continuous adjustment throughout the 3–6-inch range on a single device.

Is locking manual or automatic, and can it be used with a crane or forklift?

Manual-locking and automatic-locking mechanical designs are available. The gripping effect increases as the supported load increases. Crane-mounted or forklift-mounted configurations are designed for the relevant interface; compatibility with both carriers is not assumed for one attachment.
