Product introduction

The HENDL Wire Coil and Wire Rod Lifter is a mechanical below-the-hook attachment designed to lift and handle vertically oriented wire coils and wire rod bundles with an overhead crane. The product family offers lifting capacities up to 10 metric tonnes. A gripping arrangement based on the mechanical advantage of a scissor-lever mechanism provides an increasing gripping effect as the supported load increases. Coil dimensions, contact geometry and operating requirements are engineered for each application.

Standard Capacity And Dimensions

Lifting capacity
up to 10 metric tonnes.
Load orientation
vertical-axis wire coils and wire rod bundles; attachment positioned from above.
Gripping principle
mechanical scissor-lever advantage with increased gripping effect under load.
Locking
automatic step-locking arrangement operating through a defined lift/lower sequence.
Crane interface
lifting eye / crane hook.
Jaw contacts
steel gripping surfaces or protective pads, depending on the application.

Working dimensions are project-specific; capacities above 10 tonnes are subject to custom engineering.

Working Principle

The attachment is suspended from the crane hook, positioned above a coil with its axis vertical and brought into the intended engagement position. The scissor-lever linkage converts the load effect during lifting into gripping force through mechanical advantage. The gripping effect increases with the supported load. An automatic step-locking mechanism enables the gripping state to change during the prescribed lifting and lowering sequence. For load release, the coil is lowered onto a suitable supporting surface and the release sequence is performed according to the specific model instructions. Whether the jaws engage the coil from the inside or outside is defined by the selected project configuration, not assumed here.

Selection

Selecting the correct wire coil lifter requires the maximum coil weight, inside and outside diameters, coil height, winding and bundling arrangement, contact surface properties, centre of gravity, storage layout, available headroom and duty cycle. The 10-tonne maximum refers to the product family and does not mean that one unit handles every dimensional combination. Working dimensions are established for each project. Jaw materials and profiles are selected for the gripping arrangement and the condition of the wire surface.

Custom gripping geometry and mechanical options

Depending on the application, options include replaceable gripping jaws, a rigid centrally guided frame, a compact low-headroom configuration, a parking/transport stand and mechanical adjustment for differing coil diameters. Structures and contact components can be engineered for frequent operating cycles. Steel jaws or protective contact pads are selected to suit the wire surface. These alternatives are not all guaranteed as standard features of one attachment.

Technical Figures For A Quote

For a technical quotation, provide maximum coil weight, inside and outside diameters, coil height, winding and strapping arrangement, storage clearances, crane hook dimensions, available headroom and expected operating cycles. Indicate surface sensitivity, preferred jaw contact materials and any restricted-space or high-duty-cycle requirements. Front and side photographs of the wire coils and a storage layout are helpful for defining the appropriate gripping geometry.

Questions

What lifting capacity does the Wire Coil and Wire Rod Lifter offer?

The HENDL product family offers lifting solutions up to 10 metric tonnes. The suitable capacity and gripping configuration depend on the actual coil weight, diameters, height and handling conditions. Higher-capacity applications may be assessed through custom engineering.

How is the gripping force generated?

The mechanical advantage of the scissor-lever system converts the effect of the lifted load into gripping force. As the supported load increases, the gripping effect increases. An automatic step-locking arrangement supports the specified lifting and lowering sequence; load release follows the instructions for the actual model.

Can the lifter be adapted to different coil diameters and sensitive wire surfaces?

Yes. Gripping geometry and mechanical adjustments can be engineered for the required coil dimensions. Steel jaws or protective contact pads are chosen according to the application. Replaceable jaws, compact construction and a parking stand may also be specified.
