Product introduction

The HENDL Pipe & Round Material Gripper is a family of mechanical below-the-hook lifting devices for handling pipes with adequate resistance to local clamping pressure and solid round-section materials. The concept can be engineered for different diameters, load masses and contact requirements. The final capacity and operating envelope are determined for each approved configuration.

Standard Capacity And Dimensions

The intended capacity family includes 250, 500, 1,000 and 2,500 kg configurations. These figures are not yet model-specific, HENDL-verified working load limits (WLLs). Gripping diameter is selected to suit the customer’s product. Horizontal handling and vertical handling require separately engineered and verified configurations. Final WLL, diameter range, self-weight and operating limits remain subject to technical approval.

Working Principle

An articulated mechanical linkage is designed to generate gripping force using the suspended load. Secure retention at the contact points depends on jaw geometry, friction conditions, centre of gravity and the load’s resistance to local deformation. The engagement and release sequence must follow the approved design and instructions for the specific unit.

Selection

Specify the load outside diameter, wall thickness for hollow pipes, maximum weight, length, centre of gravity, surface condition, allowable contact pressure, handling orientation and crane suspension interface. Do not assume that a single gripper suits every diameter or both lifting orientations.

Options engineered for the handling task

A mechanical open-position latch, optional automatic handling-cycle release/engagement, alternative jaw widths and load-contact protection can be evaluated by configuration. Three-point contact is a design objective and must be verified on the applicable model. Vertical lifting is a separate engineered solution, not an implied feature of the depicted horizontal-handling configuration.

Technical Figures For A Quote

For a quotation, provide the pipe or solid bar material, outside diameter, pipe wall thickness if relevant, length, maximum mass, lifting orientation, surface sensitivity, handling frequency, operating environment and crane hook connection dimensions. Product photographs or drawings are useful.

Questions

What pipe diameters can the gripper handle?

No universal diameter range is specified for the product family. The gripping opening is engineered using the outside diameter, wall thickness, load mass and surface conditions.

Can it handle hollow pipes and solid round sections?

Configurations can be designed for either application. Thin-walled pipes require particular consideration of contact pressure and ovalisation; suitability is confirmed through engineering assessment.

Can the same gripper lift horizontally and vertically?

This should not be assumed. Horizontal and vertical lifting require separate designs and load-retention verification; the suitable configuration is selected for the project.
