Product introduction

The HENDL Horizontal Plate Lifting Clamp is a mechanical lifting attachment intended for horizontal handling of steel plates, plate bundles and suitable structural sections. Its spring-assisted gripping cam and locking safety mechanism support controlled handling when used with a correctly engineered rigging arrangement.

The wide, split lower jaw helps accommodate suitable steel profiles. Solutions can be offered around reference capacity classes of 500 kg, 1,000 kg, 2,000 kg and 4,000 kg, with custom gripping ranges and capacities evaluated on request. A single clamp is a supply item, not a complete horizontal plate lifting arrangement: approved multi-clamp rigging, slings and, where required, a spreader beam must be used.

It is also called a horizontal plate clamp, a horizontal lifting clamp or a plate and beam clamp.

Reference Capacity Classes

The clamp is offered in four reference capacity classes and with project-specific capacities and gripping ranges.

Reference capacity classes
Reference WLL (per clamp)Reference gripping range A (mm)
500 kg · 0.5 t0–25
1,000 kg · 1 t0–25
2,000 kg · 2 t0–32
4,000 kg · 4 t0–38

Values are reference capacity classes and gripping ranges per clamp. Final HENDL dimensions, weight and technical data are set in the project quotation.

Standard supply: one clamp. Clamp sets, slings and spreader beams are quoted separately; the horizontal lifting arrangement is planned for each load.

Conformity: CE marked; EU Declaration of Conformity (DoC) available. Documents are provided on request.

Working Principle

  1. Position the clamp at the plate edge in accordance with the approved instructions.
  2. Engage the gripping cam and mechanical safety lock; check contact.
  3. Lift under control using an engineered arrangement with the appropriate number of clamps.
  4. Release the clamps only after the load is fully supported and at rest.

Safety And Use

  • Do not plan a horizontal plate lift using a single clamp.
  • Verify clamp quantity, positions, sling angles and load sharing for each lift.
  • Each clamp has its own WLL; summing WLLs does not establish the assembly WLL.
  • Ensure plate thickness and surface conditions meet the selected model limits.
  • Inspect the lock, jaws, cam and lifting connections before each use.
  • Never disengage the lock under load or allow people beneath a suspended load.

Questions

What is a horizontal plate lifting clamp used for?

It is used in approved multi-clamp rigging arrangements to lift and move steel plates, plate bundles and suitable steel sections in a horizontal orientation.

Which capacity options are available?

Reference capacity classes are 500 kg, 1,000 kg, 2,000 kg and 4,000 kg. Final HENDL ratings and dimensions are specified in the project quotation.

How do I choose the gripping range?

The workpiece thickness must fall within the approved minimum and maximum jaw opening of the selected clamp; final selection requires technical review.

Can one clamp lift a plate horizontally?

A single-clamp horizontal lift is not recommended. Determine the clamp quantity and rigging configuration from the load geometry, stiffness and centre of gravity.

Can it handle structural beams?

Yes, for suitable sections. The split lower jaw can assist with structural shapes, subject to application and grip verification.

Are custom capacities or dimensions possible?

Yes. HENDL can review custom capacities, gripping ranges and complete lifting arrangements.

Is CE marking and a Declaration of Conformity available?

Yes. The product carries CE marking and an EU Declaration of Conformity (DoC) is available; the applicable documentation can be provided on request.

Are slings and spreader beams included?

The standard supply unit is one clamp. Clamp sets, slings and spreader beams are quoted separately as needed.
