Coil upender, coil tilter and coil positioner are often used in English for the same function: turning a coil or a heavy load between the horizontal and vertical position in a controlled way. So the real choice is not upender versus tilter but which drive and layout fits the load; the HENDL range has four machines for this, each with a different drive and frame. The right choice depends on the type of load, the turning angle needed and whether the equipment stands on the floor or hangs from the crane hook.
Four machines, four different jobs
| Product | Drive and layout | Capacity (family upper limit) | Turning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electric Coil Upender | Floor-mounted, electric motor and gearbox | 100 tonnes | 90° |
| Hydraulic Load Upender | Floor-mounted, hydraulic cylinders | See the product page | Controlled positioning at intermediate angles |
| 180° Industrial Load Inverter | Floor-mounted, separate motorized tilting and table | 60 t | Tilting 90°, table 180° |
| Paper & Plastic Roll Turner | Hangs from the crane hook, grips from inside | 1 tonne | 90° |
The values are the upper limits of each product family; the exact model and dimensions are set at the quotation stage. All four machines are part of the Tilting And Turning family.
Electric Coil Upender: for steel coils
The Electric Coil Upender is a floor-mounted machine with a C-shaped frame. It turns the coil from horizontal to vertical or from vertical to horizontal; it is driven by an electric motor and gearbox and controlled by an inverter. A 90° turn takes 20–60 seconds. Higher capacities are handled with application-specific engineering.
Hydraulic Load Upender: coils, moulds and special loads
The Hydraulic Load Upender positions the load at controlled angles with an electrically driven hydraulic power unit and double-acting cylinders. It is available with an L-shaped hinged platform or a V-cradle frame and is used for coils, moulds, transformers and special industrial loads. Turning takes 30–90 seconds and is operated from a push-button panel.
180° Industrial Load Inverter: moulds and heavy workpieces
The 180° Industrial Load Inverter is designed to turn moulds and heavy workpieces upside down for maintenance and inspection. The tilting motion and the rotary table run on separate motors and gearboxes; the load can be put on and taken off from the same side. Metal coils, pallets and sheet bundles are among its secondary uses.
Paper & Plastic Roll Turner: for light rolls
The Paper & Plastic Roll Turner is not a floor machine; it hangs from the crane hook and turns paper, plastic film, textile and foil rolls by gripping them from inside the core. It is not designed for steel coils.
Which one to choose
- Turning a steel coil from horizontal to vertical on the floor: Electric Coil Upender.
- Positioning a coil, mould or transformer hydraulically at intermediate angles: Hydraulic Load Upender.
- Turning a mould or heavy part fully upside down: 180° Industrial Load Inverter.
- Turning a paper or film roll while it hangs from the crane: Paper & Plastic Roll Turner.
Information needed for a quotation
- Type, weight and dimensions of the load (for coils, inside and outside diameter and width)
- Start and end position, turning angle needed
- The side from which the load is put on and taken off
- Cycle frequency and preferred controls
